Community Street Fair

NHS OC also sponsors Street Fairs where local residents join in on the fun and fellowship. These events promote community awareness and pride, family unity, and the importance of education. A variety of  information on community services is distributed to residents, cultural arts groups have a chance to perform, and schools have an opportunity to raise funds for their programs. Prior to the Street Fair, students from four local schools are invited to participate in an essay contest with themes revolving around “How Would I Improve My Neighborhood.” Students with winning essays are awarded a computer for their home and NHS OC has placed more than 120 computers in students’ homes since the program was launched.
